Greenville sits at the south end of Moosehead Lake, Maine’s largest lake, on the edge of the North Woods. About 20 miles north, the cliffs of Mount Kineo rise straight up from the water. North of town, a trail climbs Big Moose Mountain to an old fire tower with views over the lake. On the east shore, Lily Bay State Park has trails along the water.

The Moosehead Lake Scenic Byway follows Route 15 north from Greenville along the lake’s western shore to Rockwood, across the water from Mount Kineo. Watch for moose, especially around dawn and dusk.
