Saratoga Springs is known for its mineral springs, and Saratoga Spa State Park, at the south edge of the city, has wooded trails, the springs along Geyser Creek, and a long drive lined with tall pines. In town, Congress Park has its own springs and ponds among old trees. About 15 miles to the southeast, Saratoga National Historical Park preserves the battlefield of 1777 on the bluffs above the Hudson River, with a tour road and overlooks across the valley.
Scenic drive
Route 9N runs north from Saratoga Springs through Corinth, where it meets the Hudson River, and follows the river to Lake Luzerne, at the southern edge of the Adirondacks. From there it continues to Lake George. For a shorter drive, the battlefield’s tour road winds through fields and woods above the Hudson.
